Dan should never play another futures match in his life! Playing futures events would be a dangerous regression and a  mistake that he has already made once.  He played a futures event soon after winning the Challenger in Jersey in 2009, and was knocked out early which damaged his confidence and mind set. He went back to being a futures player.   He mustn't lower the bar this time round.  He said something like "you should be playing in england, mate!" when he was playing poorly in the first set of his match against Bradley last week.  He knows what he needs to do.

The other comment I'll make re. his scheduling is a Russian proverb: Go slowly in order to get further.

Steve

I'm not sure Dan's ranking will allow him to play in a 15K. What is the cut off for rankings on a 15K?

I am surprised that Cox is taking two weeks off in a row. Of course, he can always pop up at the qualies in Tiburon in Week 41, and any of the 4 European indoor tournaments in Week 42. *

Evo is probably just taking the week off but if he doesn't do too well at Tiburon, I think he will play Tour qualies at Moscow/Stockholm/Vienna.

* or take a wild card into the British Futures. *shudders*

There was talk of him trying to get a wild card into one of these events.

If you are ranked below 150, the only way you can play a Futures (except 10Ks) is through a wild card. If you are ranked below 100, you are not even allowed to accept a  wild card, and if you are ranked between 101-150 and want to play in a 10K, you are again not allowed to accept wild cards.

As it happens, Evo is ranked outside the top 150. And in any case, most organisers would be happy to give him a WC.

Cox is going to Australia for the Challengers (Dino and Calvin are also in the entry list). I'm hoping that they'll hop off to the three Challengers in the Far East in the following weeks.

Unless Evans has a wild card, it looks like he is missing Week 43, so it's impossible to predict just what he is going to do after Tiburon.
