No idea. Fortunately we appear to have had one lucky escape.

It certainly won't be Judy Murray, although knowing what Judy is like she probably has one or two people who she would like to see in the post.

Yes because I hate firing & preferr hiring there would have been a lot of P45s in the unlikely event that i got  the job but a lot of happy players with increased funding . £300,000 donation to a new player fund as would not have taken a salary

Thats around £5000 each for 60 ATP /WTP players that get nought at the moment

Well, I do hope that you try again, A1. I don't agree with any of your ideas, but I can clearly see how enthusiastic you are. Most would see it as a business whilst you would treat it like a sport (which it is!), and that can only be a good thing.

If I am not mistaken, the actual quote was

Football isn't a matter life or death, it is a lot more important than that !

And it was credited to the late great Bill Shankly, but I am sure he wouldn't object to you amending and adapting it.

No body ever innovated anything it's all about striving to improving on what's been done before , said before .

So let's say quote me as saying

Tennis isn't everything life or death  but its a lot more important than living in Spain Lol !

Well  I'm not so sure - Andy Murray and James Ward would not have got where they are in tennis without living in Spain.

Downey seems to keep quite a low profile or the Candaian press don't have good archives on the net, I'm not sure.

This is the only detailed interview I can find - from 2007 but probably still relevant.

I said earlier that "Fotunately we appear to have had one lucky escape".

On consideration of the last day or two, I would like to remove "appear to".

I concur most heartily! smilesmilesmilesmile

To be fair, our friend is merely displaying the traits that make for a successful entrepreneur, and as a disruptive influence to the LTA he will be extremely effective and useful, I'm sure. Some of his ideas are clearly sound, others may be barking - all would be followed up with passion and dogged perseverence. That's almost certainly not the profile of someone who would be right for the LTA or any organisation with multiple stakeholders and interest groups, many conflicting, but I'm certainly glad there are people like Mr Lewis with a passion for the game, and the willingness to get involved.
