Week 39 - Challenger (€106,500+H) - Orleans, France (indoor hard)

Not as strong a draw as expected, but a terrible draw for Sean and Dave:

R1: (3) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski v David Rice & Sean Thornley

Awful. That makes it the 3rd week in a row they have drawn a pair including at least one Brit in R1 ... and of course, the previous 2 weeks, they played each other in singles qualies too!

6-4 3-6

Match tie break

Double faults aplenty 6 for Thornley/Rice, 10 for the Skupskis =/

Edit: Sean and Dave were up a mini break but are now down a mini break after 2 dfs in a row.

And the Skupski Bros keep on rolling taking the match 6-4 3-6 10-7

Looking good that they might finally get past R1.

This was "already" the QF, having won R1 what seems ages ago, and they have gone through comfortably 6-4 6-3.

Indeed they do. Great play to break again and take the match 6-4 6-3. So les frères Skupski keep on rolling. smile

The boys keep going. They are on a fantastic run at present.

Hopefully they can do it again in the semi.

PS Korriban, that was a dig at Wolf's draw details

Brothers Skupski future Davis Cup pair

Could "brothers skupski" become GBs answer to the Bryan brothers . Neal has been ranking up the Doubs points & with more points from SF challenger today are they already GB no2 in the all GB doubles pairs rankings .

As a team captain very concious that with great opportunity of Andy winning 2 singles strong all GB doubles pairs could be critical to us winning Big Davies cup ties  or even lifting the title !!!

Edit: Just the title, because Dwight Davis is probably turning in his grave and I don't want other people to keep seeing it and ending up starting to use it too wink

Brothers Skupski future Davies cup pair

My problem with looking at "All GB pairings" and creating a ranking list is that a number of top playeres would miss out all together.

I am full of admiration for what Marcus/Lewis and Ken/Neal have achieved and hope to see ther successes continue, but if push came to shove, I would have a Dubs pairing of Dom Inglot and Jamie Murray over either of them for DC (at the moment).

But because these two players choose to play with Non-GB partners, neither would appear on the list at all.

It is for this reason that a Ranking Table for All GB Doubles pairings would not really be relevant IMHO.
