American Football

Any fans here?

Enjoying my usual Saturday night college football feast right now. Was hoping Arizona State would push Stanford hard but very poor one sided game so far...

Other than ice hockey, which I just see occasionally it is the one "American" sport I am quite into. I enjoyed the experience of attending the New York Giants season opening match in New Jersey a few years ago. Basketball is one of the very few sports that I actively dislike and I have never got into baseball, although haven't really given it a chance.

I really quite enjoy NFL, going through phases of really get into it for a year or two, and essentially having a good understanding of it. But I am no hardcore fan, and although I realise college football is huge, I have never particularly watched it and really know little about the big college teams, competitions etc.

College football is much more offense-heavy, and essentially more "fun" and entertaining.

The players aren't being paid to play so there tends to be more raw passion, and there tends to be more trick plays, fake punts, onside kicks, direct snaps to running backs etc. and the top players can dominate games and will tend to put up some truly incredible stat lines which you just wouldn't see in the NFL. It's a good watch

Going to my first College Football game in a couple of weeks Cincinnati Bearcats @ South Florida Bulls.

The main purpose of the trip though is to coincide with the Baseball playoffs, as long as the Tampa Bay Rays make it there!

I'm watching the Red Zone channel online, my Patiots are the late game tonight, looking forward to it. Our first real test this year against the Falcons.
