Anna Smith has recovered from a set down to take Grinchishina into a decider, in which she has gone an early break up 2-6 6-4 *2-1, though half the games have been breaks so that may not mean much!

A pity, though it looks like the Kazakh is a player on the way up.

but it all went south (!) and Mel loses the first set 6-3
