I assume this is a 10K as per the ITF site as the LTA site has it as a 15K
Qualifying drawsheet is now out and a surprise entrant at top seed in Lewis Burton. Evan Hoyt surprisingly didn't make the main draw and is qualifying. Lots of new GB names to me in the qualifying.
Tempted to go down and watch Lewis and Evan tomorrow now.
Cox, Willis, Farquharson, Bloomfield, Carpenter, Ward Hibbert, Broady, Coupland, Martin, Malik, Ireland, Orton, Carter, Aswat, Hutt and Jhun should all be in the main draw.
The Qualifying draw is very week with just 32 players for a 48 man draw and only 4 ranked players.
Interesting result......isn't Evan one of the elite picks by the LTA for full funding under the 2013 Team Aegon programme (in addition to him having a full tennis scholarship at Reeds school, similar to Tim Henman, which means he gets to play almost full time and has top level coaching day in day out). He beat others like Jonny O'Mara, Katie Boulter & Harriet Dart to a Team Aegon place. I really think elite funding needs to be spread much more widely (2-3 times the number of young players) with less spent per player, otherwise the selectors become hostages to fortune, and bitterness can build up amongst non-picks.

I think you're right but Bruce Strachan is also in full-time training and funded under the Paul Lawrie Foundation. See:
Burton hasn't had the best of years and looks like he could do with the matches right now, fingers crossed he can turn it around in the latter part of the season

Blimey, I feel completely out of touch. I've not heard of any of this new batch. Who are the ones to watch?
Good question ! To which I don't really know the answer . . . but . .
Jay Clarke is the 15 year-old who just got to the QF in the nationals (although seeded 2 so expected to do better but the seeding is a bit hit and miss)
Curtis is his big brother (age 18) - don't know much more
Bruce Strachan is an 18 year-old currently under the wing of the Paul Lawrie foundation and set on becoming a top tennis professional player.
Tom Hill is the 18 year-old who's been playing in Turkay for the last couple of weeks (qualifying for MD but no further)
Sam Price is the 17 year-old who also just made the QF of the nationals before losing to the eventual winner.

(BradMarx90 - I'm guessing it's because Lewis put his name down really late)
