Unbelievable! Well done Dan. It goes without saying that I had Nishikori to go deep in Battle of the Boards though.......
I didn't, have Dan going through to R3!!! He played very well today against an opponent who didn't work out what to do against Evo at all. Well deserved for SuperDan!
Now.....can anyone remind me why Dan was not given a Wild Card into Wimbledon???? Esp as there were extra that were given to those who should have instead headed to the qualifying?
What a win Such an entertaining match to watch - both played well in the 1st set and then Dan got deep into Kei's head! Wish it was possible to see the interview, it must be interesting.
Dan is the first British men's qualifier to win a main draw match at the USO since Andy in 2005, and the last one before that was Tim in 1995.
No British men's qualifier has reached R3 at the USO since Andrew Castle in 1987, the time he took a set off Boris Becker, and even going back that far didn't unearth the last time a British men's qualifier beat a seed here.

Dan, the man, if you ever look at this forum - thank you !!!!
For what it's worth, I saw it much the same way as Steven - an excellent start by both but with Kei having slightly the upper hand (serve not really working but hit some cracking groundshots that took Dan quite by surprise) and then Dan got 'inside his head' and wouldn't go away and made a few superb shots himself and Kei's serve got worse, then his FH faded, and by the end Dan was looking bouncier and bouncier and Kei only really had a BH and a hang-dog expression . . .
Quite thrilling . . . .
(as my son just texted me, that must have been quite some talking to his dad gave him!)
