Will be unusual for Evo to have such a big Slam win, get all that attention, and then wait 3 days for his next match. Be very interesting to see how he performs.
Wardy produced a fairly respectable result against Tomic at Eastbourne a few months back, would hope Evo in this sort of form could at least match that
Bob, should we start to believe? He's always had it in him and now he's finally grown up. Allez Evo! This is just the beginning. I believe. Who is this Robredo by the way? in England at least

Searching for tennis courts. I reckon there's about 1 court per 25,000 people in our wonderful borough :(
Was good to see a nice post match interview from Evans with the Sky sports team being very honest about being not a very professional tennis player but that those days are now behind him, quite comical as well.
Nearly time to forget all talk about Dan's tattoos and watch him play Tomic.....been a nice Summer for English lads playing Aussies and hoping the good times continue....it has been a great US Open so far!

I thought the interview was good because it showed how much more relaxed and comfortable with the limelight Dam seems. He has always been a confident lad but until very recently he always appeared nervous and edgy in interviews, often struggling to speak in coherent sentences.
Brilliant result! and so unexpected, more so than the Nishikori win for me.
Thank you to those who gave game by game updates and comments, please do so again for the next match, I'm away with no chance of watching it so it is very much appreciated.
R3 will be against Robredo who won 4,4,1 in the end and whilst I hope to be proven wrong (again!) Ireally think this one will be too big an ask for Dan even with the reward of a Federer match up to aim for.

I think RJA is right, i.e. while Evo could have been doing a lot better in the past than he actually did, it's very doubtful that he could have been playing like this a couple of years ago. He's not that big, so needed to be stronger to play consistently well at this level.
If he doesn't relapse into old habits (and there's really no reason to assume he might now, with Leon and Greg around and real pros like Andy and Colin looking out for him), he's got a great chance of making the top 100 in the next few months. I love watching him play - loads of variety, brilliant volleying skills, really seems to enjoy playing and really gets a move on - it brings into sharp focus just how tedious it is when players play mainly from the baseline and take lots of time between points, etc.
Anyway, from the USO site:
- some brief highlights - probably the first time he's been called "as cool as the other side of the pillow" LOL - bit.ly/1a3I7YX
- Evo's post-match presser, well worth a watch, honest and funny - bit.ly/1a3GL0a
- Tomic's presser - he's impressively honest and coherent too, especially for someone who's been known to be a bit stupid - bit.ly/1a3GNVR
