Not much rest for Kyle , he's one of two main draw matches playing tomorow, maybe the polish organisers are trying to catch him cold, given there man, and give there man the best chance he can get
I'm not sure how far I'd prefer Kyle to go in this particular tournament. The draw looks tougher than last week from the QFs onwards. Whilst it's a quick turnaround today for Kyle, it may well be that he has a couple of days off between Tuesday and Thursday, which should help a lot with recovery.
QF and 3 points looks like the minimum he'd be happy with, given his form and the draw. This would mean playing his QF most likely on Friday (if the previous tournament schedule is repeated).
If he wins, a SF and 8 points, but that probably rules out any chance of playing the qualies for the next week's CH tournament in Como over the weekend.
If he loses, it's still a very quick turn around for Como qualifiers, which probably start the very next morning in Italy.......not ideal, but I suppose you have to get used to this week in week out on the tour.
Either way, whilst I'm very curious to see how Kyle would get on in a CH on clay, the Como tournament may end up biting the dust given Kyle's excellent form. Perhaps Brasov the following week (with James W?) or even Genoa could work. Kyle is tentatively entered for both I believe.
Annoying really, Kyle keeps winning too much!

I'd rather Kyle had another good week here and if that means missing out on Como qualifying then so be it. There are clay court challengers in Europe every week until the end of September so plenty of opportunities to step up. I have never liked the "tank this tournament to prepare for next week" attitude. Winning is a habit and a player at Kyle's age should never, ever be going onto court thinking anything other than giving 100%.

Agreed. It only becomes an issue as a by-product of winning lots of matches anyway! I don't think anyone should ever consider missing out on the "big pointer" matches at the business end of a $15k or $15kh Futures tournament, having done the ground work to make QF or SF.......especially if it's simply in order to play the qualifiers for a Challenger.........bird in the hand, and all that.......all I was saying is that if he did lose out before the weekend, we might have the added bonus of seeing him in action at a Challenger.
Fantastic performance today.....with at least 1 and more probably 2 days off before Friday, he should be well and truly rested before the crunch matches.
I've written an article about Kyle, again for the Yorkshire Times, mapping his progress over the past couple of weeks. As always, if there are any glaring errors, that would be marvellous, but once again doing my best to raise the profile of our local youngsters.
Brad: I don't speak Polish, but I have a vague knowledge of how some of the endless combinations of letters are pronounced & I'd say "Bydgoszcz" was one of the easier ones to get your tongue round (cf. Rzym, which is "Rome" in Polish)!
One other point: technically, a native of Monaco is a Monégasque. You could probably get away with dropping the acute accent over the first "e", if you don't know how to reproduce it, as only obsessive, nit-picking linguists like me would gib at its omission.

Just 12 games will not have tired him out too badly! With such a young guy, I'd be more concerned about mental fatigue / staleness than physical tiredness. Kyle will have opportunities to play Challengers soon enough. 27 points for winning this 15k tournament is plenty to keep his ranking ticking along nicely. To do appreciably better than that he needs to get to the final at the smaller challengers. If he wins the tournament this week, there is a chance he'll break the top 300. A jump of 100 places in two tournaments and less than a month is plenty fast enough!

I just really like the single minded way Kyle and his team have so concentrated on clay court futures this year.
I really do think it is having his coach's stated aim of developing his game by playing many matches and particularly longer tactical points within these matches.
Although just by such concentration he is becoming a better and better clay court player, in his intermittent hard court and grass court appearances he has shown very good signs of being an all court player.
Next year, I expect many more hard court appearances and of course testing himself at Challenger level.
Will be interesting to see what he achieves in any challengers in the remainder of this year, but whatever it has been a very good development year for Kyle.
