FQR: Tom Hill (UNR) defeated Mert Dinc (TUR) UNR 6-1 6-1

Main draw

R1 :

Tom Hill (UNR) v Romain Bauvy (FRA) WR 1102 (19 yrs old)
Brydan Klein v Tristan Lamasine (FRA) WR 1036 (CH 719 last summer)

NB Tom has the easier draw here and it's a good chance for him to sneak a point - Romain is a good player but has not been playing seniors that long and hasn't done anything too impressive to date.

Tristan, on the other hand, was one of those highly regarded juniors who's never really lived up to his potential (he's only 20 so that might be a bit unfair) but he's certainly been overtaken by a few of his 'lesser' peers. However, the powers that be still think quite highly of him so, on a good day, he's a threat.

Well done to 18-year-old Tom, who has qualified for a Futures singles main draw for the first time, though he did win 3 (out of 4) rounds of qualifying in Bradenton last November.

Brydan is the top seed again. I was tempted to edit that (and his ranking) in above, but probably best now to wait until the new rankings come out.

Minor point, but isn't this tournament on Hard rather than Clay?

You're quite right, BiB, it is!  Have edited the subject line.  I think we tend to assume that Steven's going to get something that basic right, so we don't even bother to look any more closely!  And given that 15 of the 24 Futures being played this week are on clay, mostly in Europe, & that only two of the hard-court tournaments are taking place there (three, if you regard Izmir as being in Europe...), he can probably be forgiven for assuming that it was the rule rather than the exception (or forgetting to change a subject line copied from a previous week)! wink

Oops, sorry about that. That's a really weird one, given that I almost certainly copied and amended the previous week's Turkey Futures title and the previous week's tournament was on hard as well. confuse
