I saw that draw and noticed that Lang hasn't played a single match this year and if (when) Oli wins, he'll then play the winner of Austrian ranked 1358 with 2 wins this year and Austrian ranked 1224 but again with NO wins this year.
Really want Oli to hit some form now and boost his ranking and my "20 in the top 500" predicition. We all know he is more than capable.
Absolutely! Maybe someone should tweet Oli and tell him 'Bob in Spain is relying on you . . . '
You've got 18 out of 20 this week. It's close !
First, you need Goodall to score a bit to 'stop the drop'. It may be temporary (with the retirement an' all but it'll do). And then with Richard, James M and Oli all playing this week and no big points to come off this week or next, it might be JUST possible.
Nothing against Josh, obviously, but given that any points he gets won't be put to any long-term use, I'd rather he went out to the first Brit he plays next week!

Do we know for sure that Josh is actually playing this week? I know he's still on the entry list but I'd have thought his participation was only 50/50????
No, we won't know for sure until the draw comes out ... though he gave the impression in a couple of his tweets that he might be out of the country at the moment so I wouldn't be surprised to find he isn't in the draw. (this is kind of the wrong thread for it but never mind!)

L32: (6) Oli Golding WR 505 beat Philip Lang (AUT) UNR (CH 875 in 2010) by 4-6 6-2 7-6(3)
L16: (6) Oli Golding WR 505 v Sebastian Stiefelmeyer (AUT) WR 1363 (CH 1200 last month)
Like Oli's R1 opponent, Stiefelmeyer abruptly stopped playing on tour last August and only started again in June. However, the reason is different - Stiefelmeyer has been away at college in the US, where it sounds like he has been pretty successful http://www.louisvillecardinal.com/2013/02/cardinals-tennis-player-sebastian-stiefelmeyer/ (though I'm never quite sure about the different college levels), so he might be even more dangerous than Lang, though like Lang, his recent results don't suggest he's anywhere near top 500 level.
