JoKo and Tara were definite direct acceptances here. Naomi, Jade & Emily were 1st, 3rd & 4th Alts and since they aren't in qualifying and the top 2 seeds in qualifying were the 8th and 9th Alts, it looks like we will have 5 in the main draw No Samantha - she is flying home for a quick break then back to training, presumably before flying out again close to US Open qualies.

That sounds bizzare for Sam to fly back to the UK, then to fly back to the states maybe less than 2 weeks later. Probably cheaper than staying out there I suppose though?

Good luck to the girls here. I wouldn't be surprised if Johanna WD's from here especially if she wins today.

Hoping for Tara to get her mojo back this week as she's got those points from the 50k in Russia to defend very soon

Jo & Em in the same 1/4, Tara & Naomi in the same 1/4 and they are all in the same half of the draw..........Jade out on her own in the other half of the draw.

I would really like to see Tara back on form here.

She has had a really good first half of the year in sharp contrast to the last 2 years. That first half of 2013 combined with a quite similar second half of 2012 ranking pointswise has produced a full year to get ber longed for "1" at the front of her ranking.

Would be such a pity if she can not now at least replicate her 2012 second half to at least maintain her ranking.

Live scores has been stuck on Naomi's doubles match at 5-0 40-30* for what must be almost an hour so the match is possibly finished by now?

Update: the match will be finished tomorrow, abandoned for today.
