RE: Week 29 - ITF ($25K) - Woking, UK Hard

And with one of Bees and Boulter guaranteed to have at least 10 points by the end of the day, it will be the first time in just over a year that you need double figures to get onto the top 25 table. I know that this is more a reflection on kind draws than an improvement in standards, but it still makes it seem better!

great tweet from Lisa last night:

lisa whybourn ‏@lisawhybourn 17h

Been driving around Woking all night with @BrigitFolland and there isn't a single fan left :( I love this weather but god do I need a fan!!

I thought she was talking about fans of tennis !!!!!!!!!

PS after the score today, Lisa, obviously you didn't need a fan THAT badly . . . .

Made even more funny by the fact Jess Ren had tweeted about a lack of tennis fans earlier in the day (maybe I'd better re-read that one too in case she meant the same as Lisa, but I don't think she did!)

Wrong thread CD....Sam, Jade and Noami are in Canada.

Sophie now 5-2 up on Jess.

The other GB girls are either just on court or are due on shortly

Sophie beats Jess 5-7 7-5 6-3 and that should be enough to get her a WTA ranking with 10 points from 2 events (1 from winning QR1 at Nottingham 50K last month, 1 more for qualifying here and a further 8 for winning today)

Katie Boulter will also get a ranking from 2 events if she wins today.

Very impressive first set to Mel 6-1. Hope she keeps it up in the 2nd set.

Mel only lost 9 points in that set ... and 2 of them were dfs. She's giving the no. 2 seed a good kick up the Jaksic at the moment (sorry, couldn't resist!), I hope Jovana doesn't 'do a Jade' (see Granby thread) on her.

16-year-old Katie will be the youngest Brit with a WTA singles ranking on Monday week and 12 points (4 from Loughborough last November, 8 here) should see her go straight into the top 1000.

And so ...

Oh dear

Hard to imagine any result now except a Jaksic win but I would love to be wrong!

We need all these new counters with Nik Slater and Danielle Borthwick due to drop down or out of the rankings shortly.
