Danni K has taken the first set 6-4, but made hard work of it.

Was 5-2 up, got broken and then got to 5-4 40-0 before losing 4 points on the bounce, but managed to hang on.

R2: KONOTOPTSEVA, Danielle (GBR) 8 945 v MUKHAMETOVA, Anastasia (RUS) WR 1132 (CH 394 in 2011)

Mukhametova is still only 21 and with the ITF site playing up, it's not easy to work out why she is so far off her top 400 career high at the moment.

 Despite entering a number of tournaments she has not been getting the results since mid 2011 that she was getting in the previous 12 months. Most tournaments in the past 12 months have scored 1 or 0 ranking points.

5 Brits were due to play singles against non-Brits today and the first 4 (Tara & Brydan in Instanbul then Richard & Dan in Ilkley) all lost - Danielle's our last chance today!
