L32: (4) James Marsalek 547 lost to (Q) Bogdan Apostol (ROU) 1473 4-6 2-6

For the second week in a row........... Ouch! Serve broken 6 times in 2 sets.

What is going on with James (and George and Liam).....a big chunk of the "elite" young pro Team Aegon selections

Edit:

Sorry for adding this in but this comes from the LTA website. Based on the whole of 2012 and 2013 YTD, how many of our younger Team Aegon players can we say genuinely fit the following: "Selection for Team Aegon is based upon demonstrating the very highest level of performance, and the potential to compete against the very best tennis players in the world".

James doesn't seem to have read the script - this is supposed to be mega GB week !

L32: (4) James Marsalek WR 547 lost 6-4 6-2 to Bogdan Ionut Apostol (Q)

You beat me to it, Korriban. Someone said he was just back from injury but that was a week or two back now  . . .

Certainly not good from James recently. But I thought he made good progress last year ( notably more than George and Liam ) and liooked well worth funding.

Form comes and goes and hopefully he will pick up again and move into the top 500 and beyond from currently not far off his CH.

Surely not suggesting his funding should be suddenly cut / stopped based on a dodgy period for umknown reasons ( apparently possibly injury related although no doubt some other fadcinating theories ) ?

No, certainly not! 12 months is 12 months....if he is trying hard and fully committed, he should keep his funding.

James suffered an equally ignominious defeat in the doubles, too:

R1:  Andrei Ciumac & Patrick Grigoriou (MDA/ROU) UNR defeated (3) James Marsalek & François-Arthur Vibert (FRA) WR 1597 by 1 & 4 bleh

James is only just back after a stress fracture, it will take him a few weeks to get back to match fitness and sharpness.

Will clearly vary with different folk and imjuries how quickly they get back into the swng of things.

Hopefully James will soon be pushing on again up the rankings.
