George and Ashley are only separated by one more line in the draw than last week but it it enough to ensure that instead of playing each other in R1 this time, they are in opposite halves of the draw.

Ashley would be guaranteed another qualifier in R2 as well, if (when) he wins. And a QF place could be enough to see him break into the Top 500 for the first time.

Gosh. George seems to have completely and utterly lost his way.

He really shouldn't be losing by that scoreline to someone ranked outside 500. Think of the LTA money that has been invested in him over the last 3-4 years alone, and there are no signs at all of him turning the corner. Odd.
