NCAA Singles Championships 2013

Sam Vickers and Nat Beazant have been playing this week in the big end of season event.

Sam was knocked out in the 2nd round, but Nat won her 3rd round match yesterday so is into the QFs.

Streaming is available for this event - not managed to catch Nat yet but am keen to see how she's playing.

Indeed, Nat defeated the 8th ranked player in round 1, came back from 5-2 down in the final set in round 2, and became the first female player to reach the QFs from Rice. She may not go further or go pro but she's doing well. As is Sam Vickers who is top 20 ranked.

And she will, if she graduates, have a degree from a top university. Good job.

I'm pretty certain we've had a few over the years. Helen Crook and Victoria Davies spring to mind.

O statisticians, does this make Ms Beazant the UK's first woman to win "All American" honours?
