Week 21 - Greece F8 ($10,000) - Marathon-Athens (Hard)

The draw is weak such that Jamie will be top seed, Josh will be second seed and Richard Gabb may also pick up a seeding.

However David Rice will be the unranked player all the seeds want to avoid.

DAs here for Baker, Goodall, Gabb, Rice and Gill.

The draw is very weak. It looks like at least two unranked players are main draw DAs.

QR1: Callum Kempe UNR v Salak Bazrganian (USA) UNR

QR1: Bruce Strachan UNR v Bye

QR1: Sam Hutt UNR v Ethan Tulliani (AUS) UNR

In this instance how do they separate one unranked lad from another, ie in terms of who to give the DA to? Is it worth me belting it out to Greece in the hope of being one win away from a ranking point?

Yes some sort of formula based national ranking. You can see on the entry lists on the ITf site.

For British players anyone with a LTA rating of 1.1 has a national ranking of 1.

Just one relevant H2H - Josh beat BNB 1 & 5 in Heraklion last month.

I also note that Josh Goodall is playing with David Rice in the doubles - is that a canny bit of partner-picking by Josh?

(Gill and Strachan are together, Sam Hutt is playing with Chih-Jen Ho, and Richard is playing with Marcus Daniell).

Actually, that could be quite a decent scratch pairing. I think that Mr Goodall has had a decent doubles record of his own, has he not?

Apart from Sam Hutt, all the first round draws look quite decent and David Rice is seeded as well, which i wasn't expecting.

Peliwo is in Jamie's quarter - so that's a tough QF, especially as it is Jamie's first tournament since a wrist injury

Gabb has a nice draw until the QF where he could potentially meet the no.3 seed

On current form Rice should be able to dispose of Josh in the quarter final

I think Dave Rice is the pick of the Brits here
