FQR: Samuel Beddow UNR v Juan Diego Telles (ESA) UNR
This has to be one of the weakest tournaments, in terms of depth, that I have ever seen. There are only 18 players in qualifying (should have been a 48 man draw) none of whom are ranked. Furthermore it looks like one unranked player is a main draw DA.
All the hallmarks of a classic Beddow tournament choice. Need to check now if his opponent is either 13 years old or 57 years old - often his sister (we think) magically draws those kind of players.
He doesn't have a profile page on either the ATP or ITF site.
Telles is 16 and does have a profile page on ITF, but only for juniors, where he is ranked [correction] 1527 (CH 1373 on 1 Jan) based on Q+R2 in singles and QFs in doubles at a grade 5 in Honduras last September.

Which probably indicates he is bought himself a tennis racquet for Chistmas and just pitched up for qualies

Gosh. How lucky! Again! A $15k, reaching the FQR without playing a match, and drawing a 16 year old who has never played an ITF pro tournament, and is junior ranked 4527. I'm guessing Sam might win this one, and what chance he draws a WC with a similar profile. Well maybe not, but you know what I mean. There's something rather intriguing about the overseas adventures of the Beddow family and their lucky draws.

The draw has already taken place and the qualifiers don't have many easy slots. 4 play a seeded opponent and 3 get other DAs. One lucky qualifier will play against an unranked wild card, the person that Samuel beat in Guatemala qualifying last week.

So Robyn might not be the only Beddow with a senior world ranking if his luck holds!
Cue news coverage of them as GB's answer to the Safin siblings.
Quite an adventure they are having. One thing that does surprise me a little is that while they play in similar countries to each other, they don't seem to turn up in the same country at the same time.

Samuel doesn't really seem to do much "globe trotting". Before this trip to Guatemala and El Salvador all his tournaments had been in the USA apart from one which was in Canada.
