Wow. Have you looked at the top section of the draw ?

Possible match between Liam Broady and Cameron (I'm British now) Norrie for a FQR That could be tasty.

Do we know anything about Dan Evans' fitness? I know there was some doubt about whether he would be fit in time for this one.

Calf injuries heel quickly, he should be fine.

I'd be more than worried for Broady with his first match back since his injury at Sunderland.

Looking at the field there will be between 21 and 23 Brits in the draw and could be as much as 5 unranked players so a good chance for points here.

Liam is a good lad and has been dealing with this shoulder issue since the US open last year. Originally had changed to a heavier racket last June in order to maximise his weapons. However it was putting too much pressure on his shoulder, hence he has been trialling a lighter racket. MRI scans have shown no obvious damage to his shoulder joint but he has still been experiencing pain.

He will be back I have no doubt, to big a talent not to be, we've just got to be patient.

Broady a little suprise, but has been struggling with injury. 15 out of 16 GB's left and a certain Mr Coric. 7 through then and thus at least 18 in main draw(plus wildcards)

In all honesty I wasn't remotely surprised to see Broady lose. Even before his recent injury his form has been awful for a long, long time. It's obviously too soon to write the lad off but I don't expect to see a major breakthrough in the near future.

I am afraid, RJA, you have just said what many no doubt think.

All the best to Liam, but it is quite some time since he has shown any real consistent form.

Well I certainly hope that you are right Phil. However we all know many stories from many different sports of big talents that never quite make it.

Liam is a good lad but very much a lad who is trying to get by in a man's world. Obviously he needs to sort out his injury problems but far more important is growing up a bit and learning to keep his emotions in check while on court. It's one thing to be angry with how you are playing, it's quite another to repeatedly beat yourself up and let your opponent know what a bad state you are in. I am increasingly convinced that his Wimbledon 2011 exploits and the subsequent publicity was the worst thing that ever happened to him. Before that his career was developing nicely but that week pushed his own expectations through the roof at a time when he was not yet good enough to meet those expectations or emotionally mature enough to deal with not doing so.

Ede is showing as British this morning on the ATP rankings.

Ranked 869 - another new Brit?
