The all conquering Nicola Slater continues in the States, taking pity on one of her victims in last weeks final (and last weeks singles champion) to partner with her this week.
They have, however, drawn the #2 seeds; a team that comprises two of the strongest players in the singles field.
R1: Nicola SLATER/Shelby ROGERS (GBR/USA) vs. Julia COHEN/Tatjana MARIA (USA/GER) [2]

Much more chance for Nik if she reached the top 250 and had an established partnership with a Brit also within the top 250, because for doubles Wimbledon WC recommendations it is an all British pair that the less than 500 total applies to.
That made it worse when Rice and Thornley satisfied that and were denied one ( although I understand recommended for one ) in favour of some pretty scratch and not as proven partnerships.
I'd love to see Nik at Wimbledon. She's had a raw deal at times such as when left out of the 2010 Scottish Commonwealth Games team, is certainly a character, and although having tough times, more particularly in singles, so often tests herself at at least 25K level.
Unfortunately, I'd say it's unlikely even if she herself gets into the top 250, particularly if she has no really regular partnership, let alone an all British one.
Continuous storms have wreaked absolute havoc with the schedule at this tournament. Some players played 4 matches yesterday, over a 11+ hour period.
The upshot is, Nicola's first round doubles was cancelled after her opponents scratched, and so she still hasn't actually played yet.
Good news for all doubles fans though! Weather permitting, Nicola's match will be streamed tonight (hopefully with the same 12 year old kids doing the commentary as yesterday, because they were hilarious)
The new draw is: R1: Nicola SLATER/Shelby ROGERS (GBR/USA) vs. bye QF: Nicola SLATER/Shelby ROGERS (GBR/USA) vs. Katerina KRAMPEROVA/Ilona KREMEN (CZE/BLR)

The stream in Tallahassee for Dave & Sean is much better quality though, so I'd stick with that. (The comedy random commentary is 'interesting' here though)
