Week 15 - ITF $25k - Edgbaston - Hard Indoor

Tara is seeded, Sam and Lisa make the main draw and Naomi is 1st alt so will get in.

WCM - EWS, Jade,Katy Dunne

Surely this British event will be more succesful for the GB girls

I see An Sophie Mestach is going well again(Dijon), but hasn't made the made draw at Edgbaston and will probably end up going through qualies.

I think all the seeds will want to avoid her....

Katy's WC will see her ranked with now at least 4 points from 3 tournaments, all by way of WC.

I do think she has gone up a level this year and should be "earning" quite a number of senior ranking points before.long.

So i'm guessing Mestach has a SE, but a bit suprised Naomi still didn't make the main draw.

Guaranteed one Brit through as Mel is drawn in an all British bracket

Also looks like we have a WC in Anne Keothavong, who will be seeded.

Quali's are on live scores - no success for our GB girls so far, but not expecting any except in all GB ties. Naomi's match was live, but has disappeared.

The ITF have changed their URL's again. They've finally come out of 'beta' and removed the 'beta' from the lead ins, replacing it with www.

This sort of change is a massive pain to some people that actually use the site, especially, I imagine people like Steven who will probably have to reconfigure all the links in the top 25 tables. cry

These are mistakes that web hosting companies were making in 1993 - not having any automatic and seamless redirection in place.

It doesn't speak at all well of the ITF they they still do so today. disbelief

3 GB qualifiers in fact including Mel's walkover.

Very good comprehensive win for Lucy against a much higher ranked foreign player (and yes why shouldn't we expect our fair share of these), which continues to bode well for her after a long while out.

Another big serving day for Naomi which gives her some breathing space in these tight matches.....in fact she was plus 14 Ace/DF and her opponent minus 3 Ace/DF, which is effectively a 17 point head start in a match where she finished 14 points ahead! I think good serving's major benefit is more the relief of pressure, rather than just the maths. How many times over the last 4 years have we seen Laura Robson go 0-40 or 15-40 down in games with 1 or 2 DFs contributing to over-pressing in the rest of her game......and the opponent barely having to swing a racquet in anger.
