Tough draws for the Brits, who play the two seeds in the top quarter, who were also the finalists in Bahrain F1 this week, Samper winning 7-5 in the 3rd:
L32: Dan Cox WR 618 v (1) Jordi Samper Montańa (ESP) WR 278 (= CH) L32: James Marsalek WR 606 v (7) Antal van der Duim (NED) WR 514 (CH 290 last Apr)
Like Ed Corrie, Samper has already won 3 Futures singles titles this year and has won 14 of his last 15 matches, the loss being to Carreńo Busta!
The Dutchman is 2-4 v Brits so far this year, having lost to Evo 3 times & Milton once but beaten Smethurst & Fitzy.

James won too, albeit without having to spend as long out on court!
L32: Dan Cox WR 618 beat (1) Jordi Samper Montańa (ESP) WR 278 (= CH) by 6-3 4-6 6-3 L32: James Marsalek WR 606 beat (7) Antal van der Duim (NED) WR 514 (CH 290 last Apr) by 1-0 ret.
L16: Dan Cox WR 618 v (Q) Mathieu Roy (FRA) WR 930 L16: James Marsalek WR 606 v André Gaspar Murta (POR) WR 788
The Portuguese player is only 18 so may be a bit under-ranked and more dangerous than he first appears. The winners of these two matches will meet in the QFs.
The 4th seed was replaced by a lucky loser so 8th seed Joris de Loore is the highest-ranked player left in the Brits' half.

Goodness knows how many break/set points Dan had in the last game (perhaps half a dozen) but he did end up managing to break again to take the 1st set 6-3
An excellent performance so far against such an in-form player, who has had to play nearly twice as many points on serve as Dan, winning just 50% of service points as opposed to 70% for Dan.
