Week 11 - USA F7 ($15,000) - Calabasas, CA (Hard)

Josh Milton should be in the main draw here.

QR1: (q5) Dan Cox WR 603 v Tinotenda Chanakira (ZIM) WR 1933
QR1: James Ireland WR 1264 v Milen Ianakiev (GER) UNR

The other seed in Dan's section is Gianni Mina (FRA) WR 688, an ex-top 400 player who reached the Final of the Futures event in Tehuacán last month.

Correct - my mistake.

These unranked North American's could be anything as they may be at college with a false ranking.

A particularly good result for James, given Elliott's R1 scalp

FQR: (q5) Dan Cox WR 603 beat Stefan Micov (MKD) WR 1895 (CH 1247 last Sep) by 1 & 2
FQR: James Ireland WR 1264 lost to (q14) Mohamed Haythem Abid (TUN) WR 855 (CH 360 in 2010) by 3 & 1

L32: (8) Josh Milton WR 386 v Takanyi Garanganga (ZIM) WR 426 (CH 416 last Dec)
L32: (Q) Dan Cox WR 603 v (2) Bradley Klahn (USA) WR 223 (CH 220 last month)

Both Brits are in the bottom quarter of the draw. Quite a contrast in fortunes - Garanganga has lost the last 12 sets he has played while Klahn (who qualified for the US Open last year then upset Melzer in R1 before getting thrashed by Gasquet) is dropping down to Futures level for the first time in more than two years.

What a wretched draw for Mr Cox. Wonder if Mr Klahn tried to qualify for Indian Wells and then just stuck around ...

That was my first thought, but he wasn't anywhere near making the qualifying cut and didn't get a QWC. Funnily enough, James Ireland's conqueror Abid did get a QWC for Indian Wells and took 5 games off Tursunov.
