Given that the Spaniard went on to get thrashed 1 & 3 by an unranked player in his QR3 match, it would be nice (but no doubt delusional!) to explain the scoreline against Max by Francesc having substituted his brother in against him!

Wasnt Ross-Tiree the player backed by Judy Murray as a potential new Scottish superstar, then supported financially by the Euromillions winners from his home town? Pretty sure he was sent off to France and/or Spain to an Academy when he was very young.

Yes, I assume he's still in Spain and that's why he was playing here. The France bit was some time at the Mouratoglou academy. He's still only 15 and his opponent won his QR2 match by the same score.

I notice he is down for the Villajoysa tournament as well although well down in the list of alternates. I was thinking of going up to watch Slabba play (Fitzy seems to have withdrawn) so maybe I will look out for him. It does appear that there are some high level junior events taking place at the same venue and at the same time, so maybe he will play in those if he doesn't make the qualies of the seniors.

Having said that, the Junior events are described as "national" so maybe he isn't eligible.
This is the first Futures main draw for Oli's opponent, who has played in 17 Futures qualifying events, winning just one match (against a player who hasn't won any Futures matches before or since)

I'm certain Oli will win this match, crutches or no crutches, but I don't think Oli will be winning this tournament!
Good article from the ITF site on the recent Spanish exploits of Pablo Carreno, AKA "Buster", who won the first 4 Spanish ITF Futures on the back of winning a Turkish Futures (and in fact he won through to the final from Qualies in the Turkish Futures before that).
So he's 25 wins in a row and 32 from 33 for the year, following major injury and a long long lay-off.
If ever there was an under-ranked "ringer" in a tournament, its him. Good luck Oli. In fact good luck everyone else: you'll need it......actually rooting for Buster, because I like his story, and Bob in Spain thought he was playing at a very high standard indeed.
