Well spotted - with qualifying not finished and no main draw on the ATP site yet, I hadn't even guessed that the main draw might be up elsewhere.

I've amended the thread title to the usual format people use for Futures, I hope that's ok. It just makes it mildly easier to pick out Futures when skimming through the list of threads.

This is the event where Jamie Baker beat Kevin Anderson in the Final five years ago, before their careers went in different directions, with Anderson going deep in an ATP event a week or two later on his way to the top 100 and, sadly, Jamie getting ill soon afterwards.

With ranking details:

L32: Dan Cox WR 567 v Nicolas Gustavo Kauer (CHI) WR 586
L32: (7) Josh Milton WR 387 v (WC) Jean-Yves Aubone (USA) WR 1937 (CH 475 in 2009)

L32: Dan Cox WR 567 beat Nicolas Gustavo Kauer (CHI) WR 586 by 7-6(3) 7-5
L32: (7) Josh Milton WR 387 lost to (WC) Jean-Yves Aubone (USA) WR 1937 (CH 475 in 2009) by 3 & 3 bleh

L16: Dan Cox WR 567 v Nam Ji Sung (KOR) WR 484 (= CH)

Nam is a 19-year-old who upset the 6th seed in R1 - a bad day for seeds in the top half.

There may be context, but that result looks like a complete shocker for Josh

The context seems to be that Aubone won two Futures singles titles in 2008 and was the highest-ranked player still at college when he was in the top 500 in 2009, then he played just once on the Pro Circuit between mid-July 2009 and the end of October 2012. It looks like he worked in finance for a couple of years after leaving college and was tempted back into tennis late last year rather in the way that Colin Fleming was after did university then worked in industry for a while.

So, it's pretty clear that Aubone is very under-ranked. Still a bit of a shocker then, but perhaps not a complete one ...

It didn't get any better for Josh in the doubles, but they at least gave it a go:

R1: Bjorn Fratangelo & Mitch Krueger (USA/USA) WR 1573 defeated Dan Cox & Josh Milton UNR by 1-6 6-4 [10-5]   cry

QF: Dan Cox WR 567 v (1) Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) WR 218 (= CH)

H2H 0-1, but it was on clay (Olsztyn 2010) and a close 3-setter.

Tough match next, will be a good indicator of Dan's current level. I believe PHH is a big server, so lets hope Dan's return is sharp!

Good start for Dan with an early break - i suspect the double faults under PHH's name may be related.

PHH is a good player and must be favourite to win this match though.

Game six is lasting rather a long time - plenty of deuce points.
