2013 Week 6 - Not a bad week ...

- Fed Cup promotion
- first ATP Challenger singles Final for a Brit for 18 months
- two ITF 25K doubles titles in AUS & the US
- an ITF 100K doubles finalist in the US
- all-GB singles semis at Wirral Futures (despite having just 2 of the top 4 seeds) & another title for Ed Corrie
- doubles title at Wirral Futures too
- two ITF 18U singles titles and two doubles titles as well
- 12U Tennis Europe Winter Cup title

Plus, going beyond finalists, 3 doubles semi-finalists at Montpellier ATP and the odd decent match win in ITF 25Ks.

Have I missed anything significant?

Admittedly, it's not an earth-shattering week by the standards of some countries (and of course it begs questions like "why haven't we had a Challenger singles finalist for 18 months), but a very good week by the standards of where we are now with success across a broad spectrum - and it's been fun to follow with everyone biggrin

Point 2 is the only one that counts for me good week for James. Generally limited interest in Doubles and Fed Cup good week though for those that follow these secondary tournaments so yes a goodish week sort of.

This week will be quiet one for the men though.

Well, I wouldn't call Fed Cup a 'secondary tournament' but otherwise, I tend to agree - I always find Brits doing well in doubles a double-edged sword, i.e. it's good when they do well but a bit sad that so often we do better in doubles than singles and I'd certainly happily trade 10 GB doubles titles for one GB singles title at the same level.

However, it's been good to see a variety of GB success across singles/doubles, seniors/juniors and individual/team events over the last week and that's what I was trying to highlight.

really enjoyed this week with so many players in lots of different places all contributing
if a GB player sees fit to enter an event, then i want em to do well in it irrespective of level, format or opposition - this week, so many gave it a good run
all ina week when our best player didn't even play

i must say, being a French/Spanish/Russian etc tennis fan must be absolutely exhausting

It most certainly was a pretty good week across the board from the players ( seniors and juniors ) thar we currently have, and thanks Steven for detailing it all.

Most of us are well aware where we generally stand in tennis and are hardly deluded as to where these achievements stand in the grand scheme of things.

Well done, guys and girls.

 2nd tier of Singles which is still the pinnacle. Doubles players are generally made up of players who didn't make the top in singles and/or a way of boosting earnings,  and Fed Cup and Davis Cup Murray concentrates on singles.

For the record the week was actually marginally better, as we won 3 junior ITF doubles titles smile

Despite being a right misery-guts over the past week, I have to say that it WAS a really good week overall. 4 Fed Cup wins, James rediscovering some mojo, Ed finding the consistency of the Gods, and a few notable Junior victories, albeit not at the highest level yet. And Draper delivering for GB tennis (the other one!)......awesome.
