1. Josh's new website and blog (really excellent BTW) suggests his schedule is now decided almost entirely on financial grounds, with huge emphasis on GB to limit travel/living costs. With no GB Challengers outside 2 in June and no GB $15ks at all anymore, I just don't see how its mathematically doable, let alone in the true spirit of performance progression, to break the top 150 by the Summer (his very clearly stated goal) through $10k GB tournaments alone, however well he does. He talked about doing something different in 2013, a make or break year, but in terms of tournament selection until the end of February - it's more of the same.

2. What has happened to Liam? Last tournament was week 4, then nothing entered through week 9 at least. I don't think he's injured. No longer a junior, fully funded by the LTA, aiming for inside 450 by year end - can you/should you take at least 5 weeks (and counting) off from tournaments like this. 2 or 3 OK.

3. General question here. Who decides players' schedules - some seem to make sense from a number of perspectives (surface, level of competition, travel blocks, points potential, etc), some need to be adapted to circumstances (injury, poor form, etc), but some seem strange in the extreme - without an obvious logic. Is it the player, the coach, the LTA (if funded), etc.

Liam is actually entered for Cardiff (it's just he is too low to get into qualifying at moment, which of course will change)

It sounds like he is training hard.  He tweeted this yesterday.

Hit with Jamie Baker for the 3-4 days then hit with Andy Murray today and lined up for another praccy with him tomorrow

Not really understanding Huey and Inglot's scheduling. They would have been seeded at Delray Beach ... but have chosen to go to Acapulco. Do they like clay? If not, why head for a tournament which will be much harder? Particularly after choosing Rotterdam over San Jose (where, once again, they would have been seeded).

Surely we complain when it's the other way round, not for showing more ambition. How many times has Josh Goodall been criticised for playing 10K tournaments rather than Challengers. Given their last couple of loses maybe they're now questionning their own scheduling, but when they plan their events you can't blame them for being as ambitious as their ranking allows them.
