Neal Skupski Wirral tennis

Read about Neal Skupski "shock win" at the Wirral, do me a favor anyone who has any knowledge  or knows tennis and I know the idiots of Liverpool city council could not identiy talent if it hit them in the face example was Ken skupski. That is why that tennis centre is a white elephant. Neal Skupski is a talent in singles and doubles. Given the correct guidance and that little luck he will "shock" a few more of the ignorant out there. How do I knw this.... The Truth.... as some say do not want to hear it.Just like Ken Skupski no one wanted to acknowlege his success. Especially Liverpool city council offcers IMHO everyday the Skupskis go on court they win...... they never lose.........because they love tennis

THE TRUTH, there was absolutely no need or indeed case to be so rude to Stircrazy, whose comments were very mild given what you had come out with earlier. I was hoping you would be more considered once you maybe understood some of the general forum opinions a bit more.

I am presuming you are not able to help re the queries I had about Neal.

I've deleted the (most) offending post.

Apologies for answering the first post in the thread, it would probably have been best if I hadn't and the thread had died before it really started. The views in the first post could have been geniune, even if not well expressed, and I'm afraid I tend to err on the side giving people the benefit of the doubt until they prove beyond much doubt that they're just trolling. However, the fact that the poster called himself "the Truth" should in itself probably have rung alarm bells straight away. wink

Another forum member has also shown me evidence that this almost certainly isn't the first time this poster has trolled on a tennis forum too.

There's a difference between a rankings upset (which, by definition, it was) and a shock. I don't remember anyone here saying it was a big shock that he won yesterday - most of us are well aware that he's a very decent player who is only unranked because he has been away at college in the US.

I wasn't aware that it was Liverpool City Council's job to do talent id for the LTA (if that's what you mean), but there you go ... I don't claim to know how these things work. Both Ken and Neal seem to be doing well for themselves and as far as I can tell, they're both popular on here.

The only shock for me was that Neal didn't qualify for the main draw at Glasgow, Preston or Sheffield.

ps. I hope you're not his PR manager

The LC promoted tennis in the 90s under th BS  of inner city tennis. They clearly missed the Skupskis who lived on their door step

Given the Neil was just 1 month old in 1990, you can probably forgive them for not picking up on his talent.

As Steven noted, the Skupskis are popular among people on this board, and there are many of us who enjoy seeing their various successes -- welcome to the group! We're also aware that they haven't always had people in the British tennis establishment queuing up to offer them support and admire the way they've quietly gone ahead and done their own thing ... and then (in the elder's case) offered their services to the country when it needed them.

90s and into 2001 Neal was 10 years youmg then LC and officers still did not help, same with Ken  Inner cities BS and the TDO was asked to leave, all BS.  Tennis players parents are the ones who need support too even Murray's Mum had to find 30k to take him to Spain Have a look at the s*** hole of a place in Liverpool THE TENNIS CENTRE it epitomsed the TDO who had poor hygene issues

They are good boys because they have been brought up correctly not the arrogant baggage we all see with this insular sport....

If you are a genuine supporter of the Skupski brothers, you are doing them no favours by coming on here, where, as Spectator has already pointed out, the regulars are already favourably disposed to both, & spouting the kind of bile in evidence on this thread!  furious

Very true. Not that I think for a moment that anybody is going to hold this against the Skupskis but still ...

Pity Neal couldn't get the win today to follow up on his fine R1 win.

But hopefully he has rather more confidence going forward now after things not going too well in the first three futures ss he began to play competitively again.

Can I ask The Truth if he is aware if Neal is now basically injury free going forward and has he any plans to play doubles again with Ken in the short to medium term or is it basically concentration on working away at futures singles to establish a real foothold in the rankings ?

It would be great to see both Skupskis progressing. With Ken, many on this forum enjoyed following his "Flemski" partnership with Colin Fleming and, while he has appeared to stick at it well thereafter, it would be grest to see him have some real success, and maybe even with his brother. I believe someone on the forum suggested the Skupskis could one day win a Slam together. Maybe not, but one can dream !

Anyway it would be good to move on from the slightly unfortunate start here. As has been said, many here have followed Ken and to a lesser extent Neal with interest. Some of us also have not been slow to take issue with how tennis is being run in this country. It would be fair to say that contempt has been expressed at some of the LTA's utterances of late re the overall state of British tennis, along with general thoughts re the people the LTA is looking out to both to follow and more importantly participate in tennis. "arrogance" and "insular" are words many of us can identify with.
