Is it possilbe that after accepting a qwc, as the top qualifying seed, he was then moved into the main draw following the withdrawal of a player from the main draw?
I was able to go along for about and hour and a half early afternoon. Terrible time to go but the only time I could make it.
Saw the back end of Aswat beating Page. Aswat was very canny with some line calls imo. It was a war of attrition but only because neither seemed to have enough power to out-hit the other.
Watched Dyce against Gill. Dyce was so all over him first set I walked off expecting it to be over in another 20 minutes so it was a surprise to see one set all and I couldn't believe the final result when I saw it tonight. If this is what the US college system does to Junior Grand Slam champions???
Watched Jathan Malik against Nicholas Jones - Malik was always on top but pretty frustrated with his level of play so he must have improved later to beat Toby Martin.
Saw Morgan / Hewitt / Carpenter practising and looked very relaxed - interesting that 2 of them bit the dust.
Bit annoyed that Evo wasn't there, him having been a bit of a draw for me.
Biggest reflection was how baltic it was inside the Wirral Tennis Centre. Not sure if that makes for good quality tennis with balls collecting ice through the air and freezing cold players.
I have to work all week so can go back for the final if there's anyone remotely exciting in it. eg Fitzy.

I think that would go to the highest-ranked player on the original entry list who was in the qualifying draw, and obviously Dan wasn't in the original entry list.
Crazy results - I hope it was at least partly due to some of the Brits who managed big upsets playing well.
I guess Marcus's loss could have been related to the reason for his retirement in Sheffield, otherwise it would be pretty shocking that he has gone from title & semi-final in the first two Futures to FQR and QR2 losses in the next two. Not that he'd be the first Brit to have two great weeks then fade away (and no doubt not the last either), but hopefully that's not it in this case and it's just a niggle that will clear up so he can build on those first two weeks.

I'm more inclined to think that Marcus win along with Ashley's last year was due to a combination of opponents being off their game and a bit of luck making shots they normally wouldn't. Itshouldn't be A surprise them losing qualies as a lot of players ranked 500plus are of a similar level to Tour players who are unranked.

Have just been looking at the Kay Review, which suggested that short-termism was a major issue in equity markets ... perhaps it is in tennis evaluations, too? Especially if they are based for most of us on necessarily imperfect information. Let's revisit in a few months ....
