Week 6 - Challenger ($100,000) - Dallas, TX, USA (hard)

Byes in qualifying and, perhaps surprisingly, only one Brit:

QR2: (q1) Alex Bogdanovic WR 309 v Luka Gregorc (SLO) WR 698 (CH 172 in 2009) or (wc) Jon Wiegand (USA) WR 1480 (= CH)

H2H v Gregorc is 1-0, Alex having won 3 & 2 in the Champaign Challenger QFs in 2011.

This tournament is the start of the trial of no-let scoring, so if the serve hits the net, it's live.... not sure about this at all

Lets are such a problem in the game NOT. More of an issue I would think is now an unreturnable dribbler or whatever.

Guess it needs to be proved to be a stupid idea like round robin tournaments on the general tour.

QR2: (q1) Alex Bogdanovic WR 309 beat Luka Gregorc (SLO) WR 698 (CH 172 in 2009) by 4-6 6-3 6-2

FQR: (q1) Alex Bogdanovic WR 309 v Jarmere Jenkins (USA) UNR (CH 683 in 2011)

I assume Jenkins is at college at the moment and that's the main reason why he isn't ranked any more.

He actually beat Boggo 6-4 3-6 6-3 in their previous meeting (after beating Chris Eaton in the previous round), also in a final qualifying round, at Charlottesville in 2011, after which Boggo got in as a lucky loser and beat Ignatik and Delic before losing to Kudla in the QFs.

Alex has the unranked Jarmere Jenkins in final qualies so hopefully a good chance to rack up some points.

Adham & Darren are defending 18 points after beating Cerretani & Van Der Merwe in R1 here last year.

decent fight back from Alex after a iffy start, maybe just taking a while to adjust to the faster courts.

Jenkins shouldn't be underestimated, as we know he has beaten Alex before and also took care of Britton in the opener.

Those 18 points went well & truly down the Swanee:

QR1:  Moritz Baumann & Tim Pütz (GER/GER) defeated (q1) Adham El-Effendi (USA) & Darren Walsh by 6-4 6-7(6) [10-2] bleh

Switching to today's new rankings:

L32: (Q) Alex Bogdanovic WR 310 v Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) WR 220

PHH jumped to a new CH today after winning Bressuire Futures two weeks ago, though he followed that up with a R1 loss at Nußloch Futures to a player ranked outside the top 1000.

Alex is defending R2 points here, so a win in R1 will see him make a net gain of 5 points, a loss will give him a net loss of 3.
