Ross Hutchins @RoscoHutchins : Happy New Year to all!Unfortunately I will be away from tennis for a while as I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma..I am doing well, very positive with excellent medical support, friends and family around me. Looking forward to being back on the court soon!
Andy and Ross are great friends so this would explain Muzzah's emotional speech after he won in Brisbane today.
"I'd like to dedicate this victory to one of my best friends," Murray said, his voice starting to break at the end of the trophy presentation. "Thank you very much. He's back home watching and you're going to get through."
I'd like to wish Ross all the best for a speedy recovery. Medical advances mean that people can live a good life if this disease is diagnosed early and responds to treatment and I'm sure he's getting the best available.
I couldn't find a thread already for Ross but if there is one perhaps the mods could move this post?

According to Wiki (ok, not always the most reliable source) the recovery rates are pretty good. Here's hoping Ross is one of the ones who make a quick recovery. It must be worrying for his career, though, he is likely to be out for a good while while he has chemo etc.

Yes, even if he makes a quick recovery he is going to take a while to get back to full fitness after it. Even in the best case scenario this season looks to have been ruined. Obviously such considerations are of very little importance compared to him getting well.
Get well soon Ross. He will have the best medical treatment and specialists available to him I'm sure and, like Kleybanova, will be back on court before we know it.
Ross and his recovery will be in my thoughts and prayers....awful news....as has been stated Hodgkins is very treatable and recovery rates are sky high compared to other cancers esp as Ross is so fit, but still a horrible body blow for anyone....to hear the word cancer must be just devastating to one so young.
A close friend of mine was diagnosed with Hodgkins when he was at University. He's now in his 60's with two adult children. I'm sure that the treatment on offer is even better 40 years down the line.
So Ross I really wish you a long and healthy life.
