Robyn is playing outside the UK again.

When was the last time Robyn Beddow played an event either

a) in the UK; or

b) alongside other more recognised GB players abroad.

There are a couple of $10k events in GB in January, so why not enter them alongside the rest? Is there some history or baggage here? I'm not aware of anything, but it seems such a strange choice (and indeed life) for her to enter random tournaments across the world, mostly on her own. Putting aside the cost and the hassle! Any ideas?

With regard to Fitzy, I hope that this isn't an indication that he has called it a day. He would be an almost certain entrant into the early GB $10k events.

I presume she must have loads of cash, and wants to travel the world, life experiences and all that, only guessing though.

According to the LTA article, Australian Open partnerships will include Fleming/Murray and Watson/Erakovic (with all normal partnerships together as well). No sign of Laura playing doubles though.

Robson is partnering Babos I believe!

If Sam Murray and Tara Moore had made the trip to Aussie, they would have made the qualifying draw and Broadly would currently be the 1st alt. And Amanda Carreras is currently the 4th alt but I doubt she's made the trip.

Am I missing something here. Just looking at the entry list for Glasgow, and compared to Preston the following week, it's a hell of a lot weaker. What's wrong with Glasgow..

Actually there's a lot wrong with Glasgow, but Scotstoun is ok! (Only joking before I get shouted at)

If I remember right, the Scottish Futures usually tend to be significantly weaker than the ones in England and Wales. Maybe players think it is too expensive to travel there, though there are lots of reasons why that thought wouldn't make much sense.

You are indeed missing something. The Preston list still contains several players who will withdraw. The withdrawal deadline was 14:00 on Tuesday but the ITF site hasn't been updated. Once it is the field will be similar strength to Glasgow.

It has now been updated (overnight) and there have been numerous other withdrawals.  Fitzy - for example - was 6th on the qualifying list last night and is now 16 in the main draw.

Thanks.  I always thought the WD deadline was Monday.  Glad we're not being discriminated against up here :-p
