QF: Antoine Escoffier (FRA) & Alex Ward WR 2546 vs (4) Kenny Bun ( ) & Mick Lescure (CAM/FRA) WR 2196
Why does Kenny Bun get a ?
He's Cambodia's equal best ever singles player in Davis Cup, I'll have you know LOL (W 5 L 0 - they only played DC for the first time this year ... and gained promotion, winning all 5 of their ties)

I am sure that someone far wittier than me could come up with a great line involving "Escoffier" v "Bun", but my brain is not up to it at the moment.
Not claiming the wit to work out the "scoffing" line ... but from a culinary historian's point of view, surely an Escoffier would not be defeated by a humble bun! (Indeed, I would be surprised that an Escoffier even shared a court with a bun. A brioche, perhaps. But a mere bun?)
They're not really that though, are they - in the semi-finals, you'd pretty much expect to be playing the no. 1 or no. 2 seeds if you aren't one of them yourself and you haven't beaten one of them already ...
Indeed Some folk have a truly low threshold for their s and s.

I'm with you there, Spectator. I even had a crack at a play on words when I first noticed Antoine appear on the Futures scene, but it was so unmemorable, I no longer have any recollection of what I said at the time! Since le Chef Auguste created Melba toast for Dame Nellie Melba, he might well have deigned to share a court with a pain grillé or conceivably a couronne ("crown" ), but definitely not a bog-standard bun (nor a bâtard for that matter...)!
To put Steven out of his misery, I was merely expressing my disbelief that a Cambodian should rejoice in the name of Kenny Bun, not questioning his, er, credentials as a tennis player!
