Yes, I think we can take it that she lost. But things seem a bit more serious than just today's loss...

"Would have been nice to been able to hit more than 2 balls in consecutively today. Singles days are done for sure. Big decision ahead still"

The first sentence of her tweet sounds just rather resigned compared to Nik's normal feistiness and the rest seems to indicate why.

Pretty sure Nik lost, based on her recent tweet.

I haven't seen it, but they are rarely ambiguous!

Double bakery against a slightly lower-ranked player, I'm afraid. I assume the decision is whether to continue to play doubles on the circuit. Having said that, I don't think she's as bad as singles as she thinks - this seems like a bit of a freakish result and she's gone close against a fair number of higher-ranked players this year, just doesn't seem to have the confidence to close the matches out.

Q1: MURRAY, Samantha (GBR) 1 282 beat SUOMALAINEN, Pii (FIN) 471 by 5 & 0
Q1: SLATER, Nicola (GBR) 780 lost to MAKAROVA, Christina (USA) 904 by 0 & 1 bleh

Q2: MURRAY, Samantha (GBR) 1 282 v PRUDHOMME, Tatum (USA) WC UNR

Prudhomme is a 15-year-old who doesn't seem to have played on the ITF junior circuit yet.

It looks as if Nicola may have teamed up with Sarah Borwell for the doubles if GB Girls are right.

Hmm, bit of a shock  cry  Not quite as much as I initially thought though, given Ahn's ranking undoubtably in no way reflectss her ability since she has hardly played in the last 2 years and was WR 304 on her 17th birthday in 2009.  That said, given how little she has played competitively, it remains a bit of a shock.

Stupid WTA points means Sam still gets 4 points as opposed to just 6 for qualifying, but would have been good to have had a chance in the main draw. Here's hoping for a LL berth.
