Sadly it doesn't look like he's created much else, he's currently serving to stay in the match, 6-2 5-0 down.

I think Dan must've had a problem. He lost the second set 6-0 winning just 7 points. He also served 11 DFs.

I suspect it may be the same problem as last week in his Challenger first round match, when he lost 0 and 2. Probably a really bad run of form and lack of confidence. Someone in the top 400 should NOT have results and serving stats like that in a match like this. Would any of the LTA coaching team be out there or is this group unsupported?

I can't believe it's just a bad run of form. Dan is usually a grinder, quite happy to go three long setsif necessary; losing tamely like this just isn't him.

Boggo leads the H2H against Smyczek 4-1, including 2 straight sets wins last year at Queen's and Tiburon, a 3-set loss in Honolulu in January this year and a 3 & 2 win in Honolulu in February a month later.

QR1: Ed Corrie WR 510 v (wc) Patrick Taylor (USA) UNR - on after Guccione v Gregorc, the latter a set & break up
QR1: (q6) Josh Milton WR 400 v Andrei Daescu (ROU) WR 758 - just starting
QR1: Sean Thornley WR 962 beat (q2) Dan Smethurst WR 359 by 5 & 0 biggrinbleh
QR1: (wc) Samuel Holt UNR lost to Phillip Simmonds (USA) WR 555 by 3 & 0
QR1: David Rice WR 615 v (q7) Carsten Ball (AUS) WR 453 - previous match has just finished
QR1: (wc) Edward Jones UNR lost to (q4) Fritz Wolmarans (RSA) WR 363 by 2 & 1

Nothing against Sean, obviously, but in an all-GB singles match, it's frustrating to see the doubles specialist beat the singles specialist. I wonder what's up with Dan at the moment.
