3 unranked Brits through to the FQR of one of these massive qualifying draws doesn't happen too often! The only two who have gone out have lost by retirement as well.

A couple of tough draws amongst the following:

L32: Liam Broady WR 1067 v (3) Alexandre Folie (BEL) WR 438
L32: Kyle Edmund WR 810 v (WC) Patrick Daciek (USA) WR 1230
L32: Matt Short WR 716 v (WC) Noah Rubin (USA) WR 1665
L32: Luke Bambridge WR 973 v (2) Peter Heller (GER) WR 450

Results of the FQR not in yet so there could be up to three more Brits in the full 1st round draw.

Tough draws but as we know you need to reach at least semis to garner anything like relevant points from these tournaments. So maybe play the best when they're most vunerable isn't a bad idea.

7 Brits in the MD of a US Futures tournament. Can't imagine that's happened too often before. Have to give all 7 a sporting chance of winning too. 2 tough first rounds for Liam and Luke but that could work in their favour if they have good days and start fast - seeds often vulnerable in round 1. And after 4 wins already, even the qualifiers might use their match sharpness to surprise a few locals. Tomorrow should be interesting. Sweepstake anyone?

Summing up, and adding in the qualifier placements in R1 - sadly, they all got seeds:

FQR: Jordan Angus UNR beat Mark Oljaca (USA) UNR by 5 & 1
FQR: Joe Salisbury UNR beat (q6) Stefan Vinti (ROU) WR 1665 by 6-4 3-6 7-6(4) biggrin
FQR: Connor Glennon UNR beat Joey B Burkhardt (USA) UNR by 7-6(3) 0-6 6-4

L32: (Q) Connor Glennon UNR v (5) Takanyi Garanganga (ZIM) WR 479
L32: Liam Broady WR 1067 v (3) Alexandre Folie (BEL) WR 438
L32: Kyle Edmund WR 810 v (WC) Patrick Daciek (USA) WR 1230
L32: (Q) Jordan Angus UNR v (4) Chase Buchanan (USA) WR 470
L32: (Q) Joe Salisbury UNR v (7) Jason Jung (USA) WR 591
L32: Matt Short WR 716 v (WC) Noah Rubin (USA) WR 1665
L32: Luke Bambridge WR 973 v (2) Peter Heller (GER) WR 450

It's pretty awful luck that with 7 Brits in the draw, five have drawn the no. 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 seeds! doh

I blame those folk saying ah, seeds can be vulnerable in the first round, so the drawmasters said OK DOKEE, if you Brits aren't too bothered, have another 3 !   wink

Bah !

Quite a day for the teenagers in Florida - Luke took out the 2nd seed too! Unfortunately, Matt lost to someone even younger than Luke or Liam - Rubin is already world junior no. 12 aged just 16.

L32: (JE) Liam Broady WR 1067 beat (3) Alexandre Folie (BEL) WR 438 by 1-6 7-6(1) 6-1 biggrin
L32: Matt Short WR 716 lost to (WC) Noah Rubin (USA) WR 1665 by 7-6(6) 6-3 bleh
L32: (SE) Luke Bambridge WR 973 beat (2) Peter Heller (GER) WR 450 by 6-3 4-6 6-1 biggrin

L16: (JE) Liam Broady WR 1067 v (Q) Romain Bogaerts (BEL) WR 1876 or (Q) Oleg Dmitriev (RUS) UNR
L16: (SE) Luke Bambridge WR 973 v Dennis Nevolo (USA) WR 744
