Week 41 - ITF ($50K) - Joué-lès-Tours, France - Indoor Hard

QR1: (q2) Tara Moore WR 249 v Polina Pekhova (BLR) WR 323

At a guess, Jegiolka and (q8) Remondina would be the other players she would likely need to beat in order to qualify.

Never quite know what to expect from Tara at the moment, her form is a bit like a roulette wheel.
I hope she plays well as she still has 30% of her points total to defend yet.

Remondina was the girl who beat Tara last week so it will be sweet revenge if she qualifies.

Am I dreaming or is Pekhova the girl who beat her in the Kazan final?

You're dreaming  smile   It was Kateryna Koslova from Ukraine.  There's a lot of ovas out there. Indeed in tennis you see them ova and ova again.

It seems so! The Kazan final was against Kateryna Kozlova (UKR).

I'm trying to find some similarity between the two names that might have otherwise prompted the recolloection, it's a bit of a struggle though, the -ova being so common in tennis now, as was once so memorably observed by Serena Williams.

Tara & Pekhova had never met before this match.

Q3: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 2 249 v REMONDINA, Anna-Giulia (ITA) 8 314

Tara beat Anna in 3 earlier this year on clay when Tara had a lower ranking and Anna a higher ranking.

Didn't Tara lose to Remondina a couple of weeks back?

Yes, she did - in Clermont-Ferrand last week as you mentioned earlier in the thread

The Biella win for Tara (also in 3 sets) was in July.

And he seemed so sure of it in that third post too! smile

The score in Clermont-Ferrand was close: 3-6 6-4 3-6

So hopefully Tara can find a little bit more this time, and avenge that result tomorrow.

The fact that Peter didn't mention it made me doubt my memory.
