Week 37 - Challenger (€64,000) - Petange, Lux (Hard)

L32: Josh Goodall WR 193 v Vincent Millot (FRA) WR 232

Very strong field here with 4 top 100 players. Qualifying draw however had just 12 playes, only 2 of whom were ranked, for what should have been a 32 man draw.

Very weak qualie draw - chance of a certain Mr Laurent Bram to qualify if he can get past another Luxembourger(?) Gilles Kremer (brother of Anne Kremer, I presume)

One of these challengers I wish some of our guys entered, especially for a good chance of 5 qual points at an accessible and presumably cheap Euro challenger to get to....

L Bram beat the wild card 7-6(3) , 6-1 Mr P Grandjean a wild card, there were 4 2nd round matches played today.

Goodall faces Millot.

Well I doubt they realised in advance how weak the draw would be. Also I believe that Luxembourg is pretty expensive so Spain and Turkey were probably cheaper options.

Time for Josh to get another win at challenger level, the indoor hardcourt should help him out

I think a big factor in that match would have been that Millot is only 5'8 so Goodall probably had a much nicer time returning than usual. Next round will really show us where Josh is at the moment in terms of if he can make another push to being back to a regular challenger player.
