Happy that Laura gets a decent first round draw given how unlucky she's been in the past. Hopefully a win there and then she'd be up for a Clijsters match.

Hev's had a couple of shockers this year, Vika in Oz and Li Na here but overall has had a good year of draws.
Annie K was due a stinker and it has duly arrived.
Laura was due a good one and it has duly arrived.

Li Na may well be tired after Montreal & Cincinnatti - hopefully.
Kerber is my 'tip' to win - Presuming Angelique's withdrawal from Texas with her shoulder was a mere precaution, I'm afraid Annie will struggle to get many games.
Good for Laura - about time. She needs to win two matches to break even against last year, and this at least gives her the best chance to do that. Though a qualifier could be Rybarikova (WR 67) or the in form Yung-Jan Chan (95)

At least Heather & Annie have no big points to defend from last year - they won't be in deficit. Perhaps they can wait for a kinder year - or, hopefully, one where they have earned a more favourable draw through their higher rankings - could be especially applied to Heather.

Amazing how critical the four GS draw are in determining each year for the 33 - ~200 players.

Yes, its the huge early ranking points available with 60 points for qualifying ( 40 for a Q1 win ) and another 100 for a R1 win as against with the men 25 points for qulifying ( 8 for a Q1 win ) and another 45 points for a R1 win, even although they both ultimately give 2000 to the champion.

Big role reversal in this draw - normally everyone except Laura gets a nice draw (though obviously just how good a draw Laura has remains to be seen)

Horrible draws for both Heather an Anne. Kerber is so consistent it's hard to see Anne having a chance but Li Na might give Heather a chance, though she is playing well recently.

I'm very happy Robbo's got an easy first round for a change - or should I say, not a shocker.
I'm really interested in how Hev will do. Although I don't rate her chances, it'll be good for her to play someone like Li to see where she's at.
Don't rate Anne's chances at all, but I'd be ahppy to be proved wrong.
