Week 31: ATP 500 - Citi Open, Washington DC (hard) - doubles

R1: (ALT) Jamie Delgado & Ken Skupski vs (4) Frantisek Cermak & Julian Knowle (CZE/AUT) bleh

R1:  Matt Ebden (AUS) & Jonny Marray vs (2) Robert Farah & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (COL/PAK) bleh

On the face of it a tough draw for Jonny, but Qureshi seems to be experimenting with new partners as much as Jamie Murray at the moment ( disbelief ), so maybe there's a chance there, if Jonny & Matt can but strike up some kind of decent understanding...

I think this is a 250 event, not a 500?

No, it's a 500. One of them tweeted the other day to say it's his first 500 event.

Nope!  Roughly double the LA figures:  $1,049,760 compared with $557,550 overall & $74,620 per winning team compared with $30,580. wink

Huey/Inglot are also in the main draw, playing Malisse/Dolgopolov in the first round.

Whoops!  Completely missed that one! ashamed  Distracted by the Olympics!  Well, that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it... wink  Here's hoping Dom will do better with TCH at his side...    The winners of that match will play the winners of the Marray/Ebden vs Farah/Qureshi match.

In fairness to Qureshi, one would presume he is experimenting with partners this week because his previous, long-standing partner Rohan Bopanna switched in (now-dashed) hopes of winning the Olympics, and his current primary partner (with whom he's played all year) is in the Olympics, alongside Haase (NED). Interestingly, just discovered that the Netherlands Antilles dissolved in 2010 and Curaçao, Rojer's birthplace and residence, is now one of the "constituent countries" in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is why Rojer is now NED instead of AHO.

First set in the bag by 6-3. smile  The margin could've been even greater, but they were broken at *4-0.
