The young guns went for it. Some gutsy play from Laura at 0-40 on her penultimate service game and indeed on her match-winning service game. Great wins, girls.

Three wins out of four - excellent.
Anne gave a good performance in defeat too.

Best ever win for Robson, surpassing her defeat of Vinci in Palermo, and leap-frogging Heather in that list - both their bests are now against Safarova!

Career best win for Laura, matching Heather in beating Safarova for a career win.

 

Sounds like a gutsy performance in the second set, I'll look forward to watching it properly tonight after taking some sneaky glances at work during the match.

Last year at Wimbledon Laura gave Sharapova a bit of a fright before going down 6-7(4) 3-6. Laura is playing better this year.
