The article is really interesting. Paszek not given a place due to her lack of Fed Cup participation! She played this year, prob out of action in rpevious years due to injury and she has just won a tune up on grass. Something fishy there me thinks.

I know you cant play if you haven't played Fed Cup in the last 2 years, even though Paszek has, however I do know that Countries have requirements such as Sweden where you have to be in the worlds top 8 to compete, however the ITF can overrule this rule I believe but it is confusing because there are a few players who have not played Fed Cup but can play Olympics.
It does seem the best solution for all four of them to be taking part in some way. It's obvious this will be the last time for Bally and Anne. Hev and Laura have maybe 3 more Olympics to participate in.
Seems the most reasonable all round regarding the women's WCs, giving all 4 of our top women an Olympics place.
Essentially, none qualified automatically so were relying on WCs so they should all just be happy to be getting a chance to appear in the London Olympics.
As to who could do real damage in the singles, I actually think Laura, if she really found her A game, is the only one who could seriously reach the later stages of the singles, but it would be difficult to really justify her place on rankings and hopefully her time will come again in Olympic singles. It clearly meant a lot to Bally and Anne and I am happy for them.
Anne K and Elena B are in the doubles as well now due to a withdrawal from another player!
Not sure how I feel about that. Abit dissapointed for Hev and Laura not playing singles when they are playing better than the older two, but happy for Anee and Elena.
