Bally won 2 & 4 (as I'm sure you all know, but nobody seems to have posted it LOL) and will play Michelle Larcher de Brito in R1, hoping to repeat her (2 & 3) Fed Cup win against her this year. Both seeds in the top quarter (Bally's in the 2nd quarter) are now out.

Just noticed that bet365 are streaming Tara v Mel - Tara just served for the match but Mel broke and will serve at *4-5.

Mel wins serve easily and it's 5-5 in the 3rd!

Mel breaks and, having won 4 games in a row, serves for the match ... only for Tara to break back. 3rd set tiebreak and going into it, they've both won 111 points!

As Kundalini says the quality of tennis in Mel's match wasn't great, both clearly devoid of confidence, and though both served for the match, neither looked capable of doing so, and a tiebreak seemed inevitable. It may be a blessing for Mel that she won't be ranked high enough to be recommended for a Wimbledon main draw wildcard, and will I think be better off trying to defend her 40 points in qualifying.

From what I saw the match was on Anne's racket, Pliskova wasn't doing a whole lot with the ball and although Anne fluffed a couple of easy shots was aggressive enough to come through easily in the end.
