I'm thinking Oudin will qualify

From the list of QWCs Sam Murray and Lucy Brown are missing - one will presumably have Laura's WC (clearly not needed)

Lisa seems to have left her form in Kazakhstan - Perrin completes the 1st set bagel.

Also, Fran (the only Brit to draw a lower-ranked non-Brit in QR1) is serving to stay in the match against Bengson 5-7 *2-5 down

why doesn't Laura need a WC any more?

She must be ranked high enough to get into the main draw.  I see the 2nd qualifying seed is ranked WR 146 and I'm guessing the 1st qualifying seed ( who Oudin is predicted to take care of  smile  ) isn't that much higher, so Laura probably quite well in.

Brilliant recovery from Lisa - I'm so glad she hadn't left all her form in the Glorious Republic after all

Impressive that Emilia took a set off Giorgi too - hopefully that means Lisa has a fair chance against her in QR2.

A pity about Fran, but otherwise none of the straight sets losses have been much of a surprise in a qualifying competition as strong as this.

It's a regular occurence for this tournament, as it takes place in the second week of a slam. When the qualifying draw is done all players still in any Roland Garros draw (doubles mainly, but singles in McHale's case - currently on court against Li Na) are pulled out, and the cut falls dramatically.

Nicola Slater was high on the Alts list and has tweeted that she is heading back to GB but she isn't in the Q draw.

When I looked at the ITF listings yesterday, Laura was still second on Qualies list, with a WCM.

That's because they don't update with withdrawals after Thursday (I think it's Thursday, anyway)
