Laura wins even more comfortably than Ormaechea, Laura played quite well but her opponent was very poor. I think both captains will have a decision to make on their No. 2 players now and the No.1 match should be a good close contest.
It was a nice match for Laura to have against an opponent who didn't capitalise when Laura made a few errors and should be a much needed confidence boost ahead of tomorrow.
Fans of high quality tennis might want to look away for the second match but the drama will make up for it.
I wasn't that impressed by Laura. Molinero was dire with the exception a handful of inspired shots including a beautiful crosscourt sliced backhand winner and a super drop shot. Rare to see a Robson match in which her opponent gifs her so many points. A few good forehands from Laura. First groundstroke after her serve wasn't good at all. First serve percentage still not high enough.

I couldnt disagree more. I was very impressed, especially considering the circumstances. Of course Laura can play much better, but you need a better opponent to raise your game higher and Laura didnt have that. Instead she demonstrated a very disciplined match, winning 10 games in the row, hitting consistantly deep and hard, with good defensive play when necessary, she showed willing to come to net, served aggressively (saving BP and winning the important deuce games) and didnt allow her opponent any breathing space. Few errors, which when she missed weren't out by much and few DFs - i dont know what more you could have wanted? Molinero was lucky to get 2 games IMO and that was the match GB needed as a boost for Laura and a confidence knock for Molinero. Plus Laura has saved energy for the big day tommorrow.
With regards to tommorrow, I feel much more confident that we can win this tie. My only concern is if Konta is nervous and allows Molinero to play, and Ormachae edges Laura, the tie is lost - and that isnt totally impossible. I think Judy will select Jo again though, and I think we should take the tie 3-1 with no need for doubles.
I agree, I think we should start slight favourites for both of the reverse singles, though whoever gets picked on each side for the 4th rubber, it could be very close.
R1: Johanna Konta WR 164 (CH 142 in Feb) lost to Paula Ormaechea WR 143 (CH 111 last Apr) by 3 & 2
R2: Laura Robson WR 38 (= CH) beat Florencia Molinero WR 224 (CH 170 last Apr) by 1 & 1
It seems certain that the next rubber will be:
1445 BST: Laura Robson WR 38 (= CH) v Paula Ormaechea WR 143 (CH 111 last Apr)
H2H 1-0, in on clay in Italy in juniors way back in 2008. Laura won their R2 match 3 & 2 and went on to reach the Final, where funnily enough she lost to JoKo!

LTA have Laura and Johanna playing singles tomorrow with Anne joining Laura for the doubles.
BritishTennis Sun @FedCup - @laurarobson5 v Paula Ormachea f/b @JoKonta91 v Florencia Molinero f/b @annekeothavong /Robson v Mailen Auroux/Maria Irigoyen
I wouldn't be too surprised to see this line-up tomorrow, but I'm sure them tweeting that doesn't mean it is confirmed - those are just the players originally nominated, they can change them tomorrow morning if they want to.
