QR1: James Ward WR 163 v (q24) Andrey Golubev (KAZ) WR 145
Not the kindest draw, given that Golubev was ranked 33 in 2010 and despite having a lean year last year, partly due to injuries (he had to retire here last year- illness) drawing Rafa in R1 of the USO, etc, he has managed to qualify and reach R2 of the main draw at the AO, Dubai and Indian Wells so far this year, and it has taken Gasquet, del Potro and Djokovic to beat him.
Funnily enough, he took 5 games off one Djokovic and conceded 5 games to another (I'll let you guess which was which ) in successive tournaments this year.

Thanks - I had wondered last week whether the fact Wvo was in Miami meant he had got Liam's QWC. When I checked, the only source available was the OoP on the iPhone app and forgot to look for Dan just in case.
Phau is ex-top 60 (CH 59 in 2006) but Dan actually beat him the only previous time they played each other - a 3-setter at the Helsinki Challenger in 2009.

The serving stats seem to have been key so far - James has got 72% 1st serves in, winning 77% of the points when he does so, whereas Golubev has got just 44% 1st serves in, winning 60% when he does so.
