QR2: (q10) Ashley Hewitt WR 1106 beat Laurent-Oliver Daxhelet (BEL) WR 1320 by 3 & 2

FQR: (q6) Joshua Jones WR 1004 v (q11) Levente Godry (HUN) WR 1109

A bit of luck for Ashley today, in that the other seed in his section withdrew, so his FQR opponent should be relatively weak.

L32: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 703 v (WC) Saar Steele (ISR) WR 1047

Steele has been higher ranked in the past I think. Here's hoping Fitzy has a problem come Friday (in a good way)

Interesting that you recall him being ranked higher - I thought that too, but checked and it turned out he wasn't, unless you count 3 places higher last month.

Fitzy has tweeted the following

"Into the second round with a 61 63 win. Hotter today which is nice, more physical battle. Which I love."

Go Fitzy !!

Good news for Fitzy - both seeds in his quarter went out today, so he's the highest-ranked player left in it. Also Benneteau showed what a good effort it was to beat him last week by taking out top seed Weintraub today!

L32: (Q) Ashley Hewitt WR 1111 lost to Adam Chadaj (POL) WR 636 by 2-6 6-4 6-1
L32: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 704 beat (WC) Saar Steele (ISR) WR 1051 by 1 & 4

L16: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 704 v (Q) Viktor Filipenko (HUN) WR 1289

Fitzy, as well as the camper van idea, have you considered playing club league tennis at weekends on the continent ? I know that Slabinsky, Bloomfield etc have played French/German league tennis in the past and found it a useful source of income.

I think he's played French league before but I'm sure he'll confirm sooner or later.
