Its mostly about fine margins. They have won 3 titles this year and been competitive against all of the best teams just not had the luck in the critical points. If they were routinely being hammered by the others then a change might make sense but most of the losses have been of the final set or MTB variety and there is every reason to believe they can win big titles together again next year.

I do wonder about Andy though. I know he loves the game and it has occurred to me that when he is no longer competing for the big singles titles whether he would consider spending a couple of years on the tour with Jamie.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Bruno and Jamie part ways.

Jamie has at least been successful in the mixed though with Martina. Great to see him play mixed again and very fitting that he won the title again 10 years after he first did.

(Henri & Heather were also a delight)

Re Jamie & Bruno it still has to be said that the two years with Bruno have been clearly two of the three most successful years of Jamie's doubles career.

I think some folk may have the impression that Jamie has been at the very top table for much longer than he has. He only entered first the top 20 and then the top 10 in 2015, his final year with John Peers. These marks followed their Wimbledon runner up and US Open runner up spots respectively. But before Wimbledon 2015 Jamie had never been in the top 20 and his pairing with Peers had followed relative wilderness years for a guy with his ability, largely apparently for having no fixed partner for far far too long.

So yes, in spite of many doubts ( and how well Peers has gone on to do with Kontinen ) that last switch worked out well and even this year has been pretty good, maybe actually more consistent outside Slams, but without the big Slam runs and finals ( and two Slam titles with Bruno ) of the two previous years. Whether it is time for another switch is up to how they feel but the results hardly conclusively point that way.

Doubles is ruthless. I think they will split personally.

According to tennis podcast and as some one has commented on MTF, Jamie and Bruno have confirmed they will play together in 2018.

Clearly they have good chemistry and although I thought they might split but obviously feel they can achieve more. Good luck to them. Hope dom can find a steady partner as well

Throwback Thursday! This is an interesting set of results from county cup 2010

lta.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/player.aspx

Jamie/Darlington lost to Bamford/Rice (both world ranked) and Lester/Roskilly (not sure who Lester is, but Roskilly has been world ranked)

Jamie/Meisner lost to May/Thornley (Thornley was world ranked)

Jamie/McGinn were undefeated including wins against Skupski, Eaton and Dan Evans

What a high standard for county cup back then.

Jamie & Bruno have used their influence in the player council to stop 1R byes for doubles teams at Masters events. Way to go!

Oh yes, well done guys

Some of us have said before that the 24 pair Masters fields are very restrictive to some good doubles pairs especially when there are often quite a lot of scratch pairs in on singles rankings. Seems particularly tough on some pairs still far from out of the race to the 02 in the second half of the year and still can't get in.

And as said it's the best doubles pairs such as Jamie & Bruno that are sacrificing byes ( singles ranks not counting to seedings ) so it seems a fairly selfless act to be fairer all round and help other pairs advance rankingswise and financially rather than be closed out as they have been in the past apparently in part due to self interest.

From a GB perspective, also helps Dom and those like him, who are actually quite highly ranked but just not enough.

The is a great move by Jamie and Bruno. I hope it doesn't affect them adversely. I thought the reason for the byes was so that players that went deep the week before had time to scuttle across to the next tournament. I think that the physicality of playing an extra round isn't an issue for the dubs guys as it is for the singles.

Announced this morning that the LTA has named the ATP Challenger in Glasgow in September the Murray Trophy - Glasgow, in honour of the Murray familys contribution to the sport. Jamie Murray is working with them on it.

During the week this is on I see there are two ATP 250 events one in Metz and one in St Petersburg. I wonder if either of the Murrays might play this to give it a boost.
