The draw is very unusual, with 3 wildcards in the top 4 seeds. Must have gone to some length to persuade Aga and JJ to come as last minute replacements for Venus and Bartoli. Aga could yet pull out though if the Dubai final takes its toll, which would then make it the best quarter to be in - but otherwise not.

Perhaps being paid appearance money and not really being prepared to play may make it a good time to play someone as highly rated?

Qualifying due to finish tomorrow so we have to wait to see who Anne faces, but her doubles is last on court.

Anne and Elena won first set 6-3. Match due to be completed tomorrow after Annes singles match (which is 2nd on court after 1pm local time)

Just connected to Anne's singles match.

She lost first set 4 - 6

now 4 - 4* in second

Though she was a break up a minute ago.

A match in which there have been 9 breaks of serve so far!
